Summer Essentials: Foliage

Hình ảnh
Foliage is trending this summer, from leafy garlands, to lush wreaths and verdant displays. We love the remarkable array of shapes and sizes that are found in nature, from long, thin, oval, round, lacey, feathery and serrated. These wonderful botanicals add volume, texture and height to decor. And when it comes to color, most foliage is green, simply because all photosynthetic plants rely on chlorophyll for energy. Green is considered a neutral color and can often be left out in planning a color scheme. There are many different shades of green - from light and dark hues, blue and silvery tones, as well as variegated varieties. Matching the right foliage to colorful flowers can have a subtle but very powerful impact. Today, we’ve embracing summer essentials. Greenery: Encourages New Beginnings

The Pantone Color Institute has announced its Color of the Year for 2017 — and we’re back to just one color this year! It’s called “Greenery” or Pantone 15-0343 – a gorgeous shade of green. The color is said to be symbolic of “new beginnings” — the reconnection we seek with nature and one another. Greenery is described by the institute as a “fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew.” This annual color award is supposed to serve as an icon of what’s taking place in the world, an expression of the mood and attitude. And this year that mood and attitude is a yearning for a fresh New Year, healthier food choices, flowers, greens, and the outdoors — in one word, environment. “There’s a growing desire to reconnect with Nature and what is real, and find ways to disconnect from technology. We need a break. We need to stop and breathe,” states Laurie Pressman, the Pantone Color Institute’s vice president. So, in 2017...

Taking a walk in the park I had to stop and photograph these little beauties, they were everywhere. Now I am not too sure if they are wild garlic or wood anemones. but either way I love them. I apologize that my last post was a little gloomy, but I am back to my happy self...hooray! Sorry they are a bit far away, but there were loads of primroses in the park too, just the thing to brighten your day. I am very busy getting ready to teach at a Furniture Painting Workshop on Thursday night. It will be in the shop (Nannabelle's Gifts), where I will be having some retail space. They are now a distributor of Autentico Paint, an Italian chalk paint. They have a tremendous range of colours and the paints are lovely to work with. Here is a small range of colours to let you see....... I will be officially opening my little 'potting shed' on Saturday 4th May, and I am busy painting, sewing and thinking! I will take photos when it is all set up I promise. My website is almost ready to ...

Tales of the Riverbank

It was a very cold but lovely morning in Antrim today. I decided to take a walk and take my camera with me, so that you can see where I live. I love to see where people live, so that I can picture them there, in my mind's eye. First things first though! I would like to thank you all so much for your kind and thoughtful comments on yesterdays post. You really are the most uplifting bunch of people to be around, and I love you for it! Things didn't turn out too badly for Lois, her best friend's granny took Lois under her wing, which was lovely and made her feel included. As for my being a 'domestic goddess'.....it went sadly wrong! I decided to make biscuits (which I have made many times before), and something made them spread out in the tin and all join together to make one very large, very crisp biscuit! At least we got a laugh out of it. Just as well I had the malteser bunnies in reserve! (Have you tried these, by the way?) Oh I must tell you too, that Santa was a ...
