It's Shoe Time!

Hình ảnh
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, and are looking forward to your New Year celebrations? The run-up to Christmas was especially busy for me this year, as I decided to make a lot of my decorations and presents. I had decided on a shoe theme, and so I set about making decorations from card and paper, fabric and wool. The Grapic's Fairy was a wonderful source for vintage shoe images, which I printed off, and then hand-painted or added glitter and other embellishments. I then drew an exagerrated design of a boot, and cut some out of fabric, stuffed with wadding and added a little scented oil for a pleasant smell on the tree. I embellished again with buckles, buttons or bells. It was a lot of work, but I enjoyed it, and I didn't miss my traditional red and green decorations at all! My two little neices received homemade slippers, which went down very well with them, I was relieved to hear.   Aren't they cute, the design for the slippers came from one of my Tilda Christma

Wreath making.

I have been wreath making. I love wreaths, for every occasion and season. They signify the circle of life. I love circles, spots, curving lines, but I know people who love straight lines, symmetry, nothing flowery or fussy. I find it fascinating, also I find fascinating the thing about how you apply your lipstick. Mine is always rounded because I turn it round as I apply. My mum's was always pointy as she applied it the same way every time. What about you? How does your lipstick look, and do you love straight lines or curves? It must say something about us, but I am not sure what. I have been working on bringing in a little Christmas business by having wreaths in a few local shops . I have finally decided my theme for the Wedding Fair in February. I am going for the Classic Country theme, but with a period feel, think 'Tussie Mussie' bouquets and Empire line dresses, ribbons and roses. This is my inspiration collage, but I don't want to give too much away, so I will lea

Hello my blogging friends, I do apologize for my lack of posts of late. There will be some interesting things to follow, I promise! If you can spare a few minutes I urge you to take a look at this video of behind the scenes, at a wedding, which takes place at Oxford University. Bargain of the month!

So sorry for my absence of late, but things are a little busy here. I wanted to show you my charity shop purchase. I have always been rather envious of my blogging friends in England and America, who seem to pick up the best of things for next to nothing. Well, now it's my turn. I have long been admiring the wonderful collections of white ironstone that you see displayed in Pinterest and other places, but I have never seen any here, until last week that is! I found this wonderful tureen, complete with lid and ladle, in great condition for £5 in my local charity shop. I was cock-a-hoop!! I am afraid that is all for now, but I will post again soon as  I have a lot to show you. Have a wonderful week, love Linda x

I'm All Ablaze in a Heathery Haze

Wonderful hydrangea in my silvered vase. Some scarves and a hair decoration. image from  here . image from  here . deliciously wrapped sugar cubes. image from  here . shades of purple I made these butterflies from wire and antique lace after seeing a similar idea on Pinterest. Ever since I painted my larder cupboard in  the kitchen a marvellous mauve shade, I have been having a fetish about all things lilac, heather, lavender, aubergine, purple etc.etc. I have even been dyeing things 'French Lavender'. my larder cupboard. Sunderland lustre saucer. The Hydrangea from my garden is helping to satisfy my craving as the flowers are so multi-faceted and the colours continue to change after you pick them, I just love them!  I wanted to paint something on the tiles behind my cooker, but what exactly should I paint. I finally decided on painting a quirky little house which I have on an old Sunderland pink lustre cup and saucer, and then added the word HOME. It adds a little bit of humour

Ghostly goings on

We are armed and ready for whatever tonight may bring! My daughter and I have been having fun painting and carving pumpkins, making trick or treat pumpkins, and making the ghosts above. The Graphics Fairy is a wonderful source of free printables, where I found the lovely starlings. I ran out of ink for my printer and had to paint the poison labels myself, but similar ones can be found on Karen's blog. Thanks to all those who left comments on my last post, they were all most helpful in helping me to formulate my ideas for the Wedding Fair. Wishing you all a Happy Halloween with love, Linda x
