Ghostly goings on

Hình ảnh
We are armed and ready for whatever tonight may bring! My daughter and I have been having fun painting and carving pumpkins, making trick or treat pumpkins, and making the ghosts above. The Graphics Fairy is a wonderful source of free printables, where I found the lovely starlings. I ran out of ink for my printer and had to paint the poison labels myself, but similar ones can be found on Karen's blog. Thanks to all those who left comments on my last post, they were all most helpful in helping me to formulate my ideas for the Wedding Fair. Wishing you all a Happy Halloween with love, Linda x

With a little help from my friends!

I saw this photo on Pinterest and thought it was a lovely idea to put 2 fairy cakes together to make a little mini cake. So I made some of my own. Not quite as pretty as the above, but they did taste lovely. Now then, down to business. I would like to ask you, my readers, followers and occasional pop-in(ers). If you would mind helping me out a little. I am going to take a stand at the 'Quirky Wedding Fair' in Belfast in Februrary. I am very excited about it and about moving my flower business on. I have so many ideas buzzing around my head about how I would like my stand to look, too many in fact. So, this is were you come in. I have put together some collages on Picmonkey of the sort of looks I could create, and I would very much appreciate your thoughts and comments. Imagine you are a bride to be, or a groom, for that matter, which of the themes would get your attention and why. Theme 1 Driftwood      A beachy theme with shells, lanterns, candles and burlap. 'Land Love'

I thought I might share with you a new magazine that I purchased recently. It is not exactly new new as it is on it's third issue, and it comes out every other month, but it is new to me. The cover just sold it to me, with the lovely Robin, berries, ribbon candles etc. I mean, how Christmassey can you get!                                                                                      Seriously though, it is a beautifully presented magazine with really interesting articles. If you are into countryside issues, nature, cooking, crafts, interiors...it has it all. I love the fact that it is so festive, but in a non-blingy way. I do apologise I seem to be making up my own words today. You know what I mean though. And a little sneak peek at what to expect in the next issue.......

Decorating...where to start?

Sadly, I do not possess a piece of original Art, unless you count prints, but if I did, I would make my painting  the focal point of a room, as in the image above. I love the way the soft blues and beige's in the painting are picked up in the woodwork and upholstery. This particular painting is a little modern for my taste, but I think it is wonderfully complemented by the faded patina of the table and the simple chairs, lavishly upholstered. My own preference would be for a seascape, or landscape or even a still-life. For the kitchen or bedrooms, something quirky or amusing. I really love vintage signs used in Interiors too, like those below. Of course there are very clever people who can even make a display out of an empty frame. Or how about hanging your piece of art around your neck, and when you've finished wearing it, you could place it on the mantle? All in favour of Art in Interiors, say aye! Wishing you all an art-filled week, with love, Linda x. All images are from  ...

Blackbird

source . When my Dad was alive, he used to say if there was an after life that he was going to return as a Blackbird. I like to think that he did. There was a blackbird in my garden the other day, he had a little circle of grey around his roguish little eye, and I thought to myself, is that you Dad? He was looking a little sheepish, when I spied him, and then he flew away. It was not until later, when I went to pick some raspberries, that I understood why. The biggest, juiciest, red berry was gone! I didn't mind. photo from  here . I have always loved the way Blackbird's look, with their sunshine yellow beaks, and that little matching ring around the eye, and of course the fact that there is always a Mrs. Blackbird, not far away. (I think that was the reason my Dad chose to become a Blackbird).  There seems to always be some kind of a connection between me and and my fine feathered friend. In the 70's growing up, there was a group from the West Country called 'The Wurze...

Alternative Weddings

Hình ảnh
Weddings these days are such an extravagant affair. Nothing seems to be overlooked, every detail can be catered for. For example, the beautiful furniture in these images can be hired from  www.taylorcreativeinc.com . This weekend I went to 'The Alternative Wedding Fair' and was delighted to find some quirky and interesting things on offer. Sadly I did not take photographs  as I was there to spy on my competition, and did not want to be noticed. I did however click these beautiful old V.W's on the way out, aren't they just the cutest wedding vehicles. These beauties are to hire from  www.starcarhire.co.uk The whole fair was heavily slanted towards the 'Vintage' look. If you are planning on getting married, you could have your reception on a boat, in tepee's in a film theatre. You could have your refreshment's delivered via vintage caravan, complete with mis-matched vintage china. Or a very cute and dinky coffee van can arrive to serve your guests their ma...

Zest for life!

Welcome friends...............so sorry about the long break, I needed to get my zest back! (Gorgeous lemon wreath via  Pinterest . I hope you all had a wonderful summer. I find summer is a difficult time for me to blog, when my daughter is off school, I feel that I should spend my time with her. We have had a great time, going to the Zoo, visiting the beach, having family parties. My big brother was over from Canada with his wife and two children, so there has been much festivity! I have been a little crafty too. I got several books from the library, and have been crocheting, kn itting, sewing and making jewellery. I always feel really inspired to make at this time of the year, when the seasons are changing, and thoughts turn from the garden  to making indoors cosy and inviting. Lovely homely images from  Pinterest  to inspire you. Here are a few pictures of my craft projects.  I crocheted some bunting for my sister, don't look too closely! Then I tried my hand ...
