Hot pink and lime made a wonderfully cheery combination for Kerry and Iain's wedding at New Place. I do! My mother did. She loved 1940's and 1950's Movies, she believed that world of glamour was real. Sometimes I think real life disappointed her a little. When it came to Christmas my mum tried so hard with her very limited means to make it special for us. When it comes to Christmas I always get the urge to create a magical environment, a place where anything can happen. Little corners of mystery with candlelight and reflections and frosted snowflakes. Christmas on the beach is not for me, it has to be cold and frosty or it holds no magic. I felt the urge extremely strongly this year, even though I was busy with the shop. I managed to get my living room looking a little like a Ski Lodge or Cabin in the Woods, and repainted our draughty hall a lovely rich pinky red. We had a wonderful time with family and friends and I feel revived and ready to go again. A lovely, slightly autumnal with a hint of vintage look for Andrea's October wedding at Rginefield House. Purple is always popular but it can look a bit drab in low light levels so here we've brightened it up with a touch of pale lime and ivory.  Andrea's bouquet in purple, ivory, pale green and mauve using roses, lisianthus, calla lilies and skimmia with a few large pearls to add a little touch of vintage to this beautiful and slightly autumnal bouquet. It has been all go lately and I am sorry I am so behind with the posts. Here though are the lovely Sophie's wedding flowers. A pure and simple scheme in all whites - lovely Sophie's Bouquet - white hydrangea with gypsophila, very fresh and pretty White hydrangea and gypsophila bouquet in pure and simple all whites. For the men, buttonholes of white double lisianthus with a touch of gyp. Bridesmaids' bouquets all boxed and ready to go. White hydrangea and gyp for the adults and a pretty posy of all gypsophila for the flower girls. A different idea for top table flowers, little mounds of hydrangea and gyp with candles in between on a run of mirror plates  for a simple and contemporary look.  Top table flowers with the silver candelabra table centres behind. Modern top table, mirror plates with white hydrangea and gyp designs and candles in between. A lovely idea for brides looking for an alternative to the traditional top table designs. A pretty pink angel, with moonbeams in a little jar. So sorry for my absence dear friends, I have been having too good a time as the 'maker of things'. The shop where I have a little booth, had a couple of Open Days and I had to get my act together and get some stuff made. I do buy in some things, but try as much as possible to make a variety of things, so that my space is ever changing and different. It is labour intensive, and frustrating at times, but I love the variety of it. Hand painted stockings. A rosy wreath. A hessian wreath complete with toadstools, and a very tired Mr. and Mrs. Claus. A little nutcracker decoration, minus the scary teeth! The hessian wreaths, I have been admiring for a while on Pinterest, so I thought I would have a go, they are really quite easy to make, and are a change from silk or fresh ones. How about this for a firework with a difference? Interflora , who are always looking for new ways to use flowers, developed fireworks containing real flower petals. I rather like this idea, and wonder if they are silent or noisy.                        I don't particularly like fireworks, because of the noise. Having grown up in war torn Belfast in the 1970's, they remind me of gun shots and explosions. In fact they were banned over here for a few years. I also dislike the effect the noise has on our pets, our own little dog gets quite distressed when he hears them. However, I am not such a killjoy that I would ban them outright, as I know they can be very beautiful and give a lot of pleasure to young and old alike, but feel there should be restrictions on the times they can be used. A bright and beautiful autumn wedding at Rhinefield House. Laura chose a lovely blend of pinks and purples with a touch of lime for her flowers. Style wise the flowers needed to look very natural but also elegant. That was the brief and now here are the flowers ; Shower bouquet of hot pink roses, purple lisianthus, pink freesias, a touch of blue eryngium and mixed autumnal foliages for the bride. Corsage of pink freesias, eryngium and eucalyptus for Laura's mum. For the groom's mum, corsage of pink freesia and sword fern.
